Pembrokeshire against the Cull

PEMBROKESHIRE AGAINST the CULL

ATAL y CWLIO SIR BENFRO

See the new website at http://www.pembrokeshireagainstthecull.org.uk for the most up to date information.

PAC is a local group formed in response to the Welsh Assembly Government's decision to cull badgers in North Pembrokeshire. Unfortunately, the belief still exists in some quarters that culling badgers will help reduce the incidence of Bovine Tuberculosis in cattle even though recent scientific trials show this not to be the case. PAC is deeply concerned about the impact of bTB on the farming community but believes other methods including vaccination and cattle control measures to be the correct way to tackle the disease.

PAC is made up of landowners, farmers, smallholders and other interested people who live in or near North Pembrokeshire and are against the badger cull. A confidential register of objectors is being compiled which will be presented to Elin Jones AM, the Minister for Rural Affairs, along with a map showing the amount of land the objectors are responsible for.

Many people in the IAPA (Intensive Action Pilot Area) are not aware that a badger cull has been proposed and therefore PAC is keen to reach out to all who are concerned about wildlife conservation. In 2010 in England, badgers are to be vaccinated against bTB as part of their bTB eradication scheme. Pressure must be brought to bear on the Welsh Assembly Government to follow suit and abandon a badger cull.

What Can You Do?

Urgent News:

Dear All,
An urgent issue has arisen since Saturday.

Geoff has been told by Peter Black AM that the Order which will bring the Cull into force is being debated and voted on on Wednesday 21st October. We only heard this this afternoon - it is not on any of their websites.
Update: the debate will now be held on the 4th of November.

It's imperative that you write to all Assembly Members asking them to vote against the Order. It would be better if you wrote your own letters individually. We have a draft letter (written by Adrian and Monica) that has been written for you to take information from.

If you want to add that you are in favour of the badger vaccine, please put that in the letter. It has been left out of the draft on purpose because we understand that some people do not want the badgers vaccinated. Please feel free to cut and paste if you need certain sentences or paragraphs. You need to send this letter to all of the AMs listed below. Paste them into the BCC box of your email so that they don't see everyone you have sent the email to. Also by posting them in the box, the names will automatically come up with the email addresses. Apparently, on your letter you must put your address so that the letter is verifiable.
